Description
ORIGINS:
This pendant is made using an antique wax seal of unknown origins, depicting a bull and human in greek mythology. Interpretations can show this to be Mithras sacrificing a bull, or Europa being carried across the water by Zeus.
MEANING:
Mithras’s most important mythic act was the slaying of a great bull, whose body and blood became the source of all life on earth. Images of Mithras usually show him killing a bull. Such sacrifices were central to his worship, which took place in shrines located in caves or cavelike buildings in honor of the god’s subterranean origins.
SEAL:
This seal is made out of pure fine sterling silver and hand stamped with a greek mythology wax seal.
Each seal is stamped, sanded, polished and oxidized for an antique look. Because they are hand-stamped individually and made to order, these pendants are truly unique, and no two pendants are the same (unlike pendants cast from a mold).
DIMENSIONS: The pendant is slightly larger about 1″ across.
This listing is for the PENDANT ONLY and does not necessarily include a chain.
CHAIN LENGTH: If you choose to purchase the pendant on a chain, the chain is sterling silver, brass, gold plated brass or copper, 16″ long or 18″ long.
